Beyti Beytak. My home is your home. La mia casa è la tua casa.: Qatar Pavilion

10 May - 23 November 2025
Beyti Beytak, My Home is Your Home, La mia casa è la tua casa explores meanings of hospitality within the architecture, urbanism and landscape designs of the Middle East, South Asia, and North Africa region (MENASA). Spanning from the mid-20th century to today, the selected examples by thirty architects are at once inspired by and grounded in cultures of hospitality while also allied with specific contexts, territories, and practices. The common expression Beyti Beytak is rooted in the Arabic word bayt (بيت ( which translates to “home” in English. Understandings of home are tied to a sense of belonging—to a land, a group—and a sense of welcoming. Beyti Beytak observes how contemporary architecture responds to individual and community needs by reviving age-old knowledge, indigenous practices and a reinterpretation of spaces including the oasis, social housing, community centres, mosques, museums, and gardens. It brings the opportunity to reflect on the legacy of pioneering Egyptian architect and urbanist Hassan Fathy, whose work promoted social engagement while embracing vernacular forms, techniques, and materials. Beyti Beytak is produced by Qatar Museums and organised by the future Art Mill Museum. It is curated by Aurélien Lemonier, Art Mill Museum Curator of Architecture, Design, and Gardens, and Sean Anderson, Associate Professor at Cornell University, assisted by Virgile Alexandre. It is designed by the architectural studio Cookies (Federico Martelli, Clément Périssé and Alice Grégoire). The production has been undertaken by Arter (Tiphaine Marquet, Selene Stradiotto, Andrea Ventimiglia). The scientific committee is composed of Catherine Grenier, Ibrahim M. Jaidah, Yasmeen Lari, Hafid Rakem, and Raj Rewal. This is the first official participation of Qatar at La Biennale di Venezia. The exhibition presented at the ACP Palazzo Franchetti continues at the Giardini della Biennale on the site of the future permanent Qatar Pavilion with a temporary installation by Yasmeen Lari and the Heritage Foundation of Pakistan. This Community Centre reflects their disaster responsive project of prefabricated bamboo shelter.
